South Carolina Discover Card Privacy Breach
ADVERTISING MATERIAL
South Carolina's laws and Court Rules require that companies such as Discover Bank that file lawsuits in South Carolina's Courts MUST redact (black out or hide) certain Personal Identifying Information and Account Information. This includes:
--- full or parts of social security numbers
--- account numbers
--- your credit score.
This is important because a lawsuit, once filed, becomes public record -- and can be found easily by anyone with internet access.
Our law firms have identified you as a Defendant in a collection lawsuit previously brought against you by Discover Bank, presumably to recover payment on a Discover Credit Card.
We have reason to believe that the Complaint filed by Discover against you may violate South Carolina's laws and Court Rules. Specifically, we believe the lawsuit filed by Discover contained exhibits that displayed your personal information (such as a partial social security number) or account information (such as a full bank or credit card account number).
Of particular concern is the fact that Discover Card statements generally contain your Credit Score. In many cases, we've found that Discover failed to remove the page containing your Credit Score from its exhibits or properly block it from view -- - making your private credit rating or credit score visible to anyone with an internet connection.
Our purpose with these claims in representing you is to get this information blocked or removed from the public records, so that Your private information remains private. You may also have claims that entitle you to other compensation, such as relief from a judgment, or monetary compensation. We are interested in communicating with you about your potential claims against Discover Bank for its failure to protect your personal and credit information from public view, as required by South Carolina Law and Rules of court.
